Annual Meeting, Saturday, September 21 KLWA's
Annual Membership Meeting takes place next Saturday at the Mahopac
Library, beginning at 10 a.m. All members are welcomed and urged to
attend. Not a member yet? Join us on Saturday and find out what KLWA has
accomplished as well as plans for the future. Refreshments
will be served before and during the meeting, in the Periodicals Room
on the 2nd floor of Mahopac Public Library on Route 6. This
year's agenda will include a report on the past year and plans for 2013
through 2014 by KLWA President Joe Montuori. Among the plans for 2013
is the development of a comprehensive watershed management plan. This
project will complement KLWA's earlier work, focusing on the causes of
Kirk Lake's algal blooms, while continuing to focus on invasive plant
management. KLWA will be contracting with a professional limnologist
(lake scientist) to pull together its historical water quality data,
filling in any data gaps, analyzing, and making proposals for practical,
targeted management actions. Get the details to this project on Saturday! Another
key feature of Saturday's meeting will be the recognition of Kirk
Lake's many volunteers. Please be sure to attend and be recognized for
your efforts -- or join us in thanking those who have given their time
in the past. If
you're not a member yet, you'll have the opportunity to join on
Saturday. All members have voting rights at membership meetings and for
elections. See you Saturday! |
